This weekend was a special one at Lewis Middle School as the school officially cut the ribbon on the new Kaitlin’s Kitchen. Several years in the making, the new space is named in honor of former Oakdale teacher Kaitlin Schaumberger and was made possible through the incredible support of her family and friends, along with the dedication of the Lewis team, including Principal Molly Schaefer and Botany teacher Brian Greene.
Kaitlin’s Kitchen will give students new opportunities to take what they grow in the Lewis greenhouse and bring it into the kitchen, expanding hands-on learning and making an already unique program even more robust. Following the ceremony, students showed off the new kitchen and some of their culinary skills for guests.
Thank you to Kaitlin’s family and friends and everyone who helped make this vision a reality. We were also grateful to be joined by many special guests, including Congressman Brad Schneider and Mayor Sam Cunningham, to celebrate this exciting new chapter at Lewis.
