Dear Parents and Guardians,

As respiratory virus season continues, we are seeing a rise in colds, coughs, and sore throats.

Many of these symptoms are caused by common respiratory viruses, including influenza (flu),

COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), all of which have resulted in elevated

emergency department visits this season. These viral infections can spread easily, leading to

fever, congestion, coughing, and fatigue...

Tips For a Successful School Year

The John Lewis Middle School Health Office assists your student in accessing learning. We appreciate your assistance with this by:

  • Ensuring your student(s) meet State of Illinois and Waukegan Public School District 60 mandated health requirements (immunizations and physical examinations) prior to the first day of school entry.
  • Reminding your student(s): if your student is ill, the student must be seen in the Health Office prior to contacting you, the parent.
  • Please tell your student to go to the Health Office and see the Nurse if they are not feeling well.
  • Maintain working telephone numbers and current emergency contact names and numbers with the Health Office.
  • Students must be present in class to access academic content/learning.
