Dear Parents and Guardians,

The time of year has arrived where we have the opportunity to celebrate the success of your 8th grade scholar(s)! Upon arrival of the end of the school year and these celebratory events, we need to review necessary procedures to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

For starters, the Promotion Ceremony for this school year will take place on Wednesday, May 21st, at 12:00 noon. at the Genesee Theatre in downtown Waukegan.  As the students will be bussed from school to the theater and back to the school,, they must arrive at John Lewis Middle School no later than 10:30 A.M.

Below are the expectations requested of you and your student(s):

• Invite as many family members and friends as you would like, as there are no tickets necessary for your participation.
• Genesee theater will NOT allow balloons in the theater, save those for home.
• Students MUST take the bus to Genesee Theatre and MUST take the bus back to the school.  Pick-up will be at Lewis MS after the ceremony.
• Certificates will be handed out to students after the ceremony on the bus ride to Lewis MS.
• Please wear your best! This is a formal celebration.
• NO gum!
• NOTHING should be carried with students to the ceremony.
• NO CELL PHONES!
• Professional photographs taken during the ceremony will be available for purchase.
• Show respect ALWAYS. Be a role model and represent John Lewis with pride!.
